Visit Amsterdam

Amsterdam is not even 10 km away, with its museums, cinemas, and bustling nightlife. The Amsterdam ArenA, Heineken Music Hall and Ziggo Dome are accessible by bike, which makes visiting a football match very easy! From Abcoude there are direct buses and trains connecting you to the heart of Amsterdam.

Explore the surroundings by boat or bike

In front of the bed and breakfast runs the river Holendrecht, which connects us via the Waver to the lakes at Vinkeveen, an excellent area for summer recreation. The Holendrecht also connects with the river Amstel, which will take you directly into Amsterdam city centre. The picturesque villages of Abcoude, Baambrugge, and Ouderkerk aan de Amstel are also accessible by boat. You can also rent our boat to experience the rural environment and the canals of Amsterdam.

Flora and fauna at the Botshol

For nature lovers is the Botshol nature reserve only 10 minutes away by bike. From one of the reed boats, enjoy the peace and tranquillity offered by this protected area. To protect the outstanding flora and fauna, reed beds and wildlife, there are no motorboats allowed in the reserve. In the cold winters the waters in the Botshol freeze and you might even experience the Dutch’s passion for skating.

Restaurants

Only a three-minute walk away is Restaurant de Voetangel. A renowned restaurant with an outstanding kitchen and wine list. Five minutes away by car is Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, known as the culinary centre of The Netherlands. Choose from a variety of restaurants providing excellent food; from simple meals to haute cuisine, Ouderkerk has something for every palate.

Five minutes by car in the opposite direction is the village of Abcoude. Café-restaurant De Eendracht is an excellent place to enjoy summer evenings on their terrace. A little further away is the village of Baambrugge. The nostalgic Dutch café De Punt serves good food at a very reasonable price.
